Patriots from Chapter 646 help homeless veterans in West Virginia

MARTINSBURG - Warmth from the heart and from the cold was among the many services provided to homeless veterans Saturday, part of the Hero Haven Homeless Veterans Stand Down at the Martinsburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

After the successes of the inaugural event last year, in which the VA assisted more than approximately 75 participants, organizers began to think that it should be an annual affair.

This year's event offered the same capacity of services to eligible homeless veterans from all around the area, including medical screening, employment support, housing services and clothing. Once the veterans went through registration, they were led by an escort around the facility to whatever service they requested.
