The Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) partners with HBO to honor America’s Military

“The Pacific”

On March 14, 2010, HBO began airing The Pacific, a 10-part miniseries event, executive produced by Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman, the producers of Band of Brothers, tracks the intertwined journeys of three U.S. Marines – Robert Leckie, Eugene Sledge and John Basilone across the vast canvas of the Pacific Theater during World War II.  The Pacific takes an unflinching “under the helmet” look at the experiences of these men and their brothers in arms.  Based on the true stories of World War II Marines, The Pacific airs each Sundays at 9PM -- Only on HBO.

“Tribute Campaign”

In support of the miniseries, HBO has launched a national video tribute campaign to honor our veterans and active military.  HBO has partnered with a network of WWII museums and memorials as well as national / grassroots military and veterans organizations, including the Military Order of the Purple Heart, to collect video tributes for our troops serving abroad troops from citizens across the country.  HBO has developed an HD touch-screen kiosk for on-site story collections and a downloadable widget that allows webcam owners to record tributes online.  The goal is to collect tens of thousands of videos, which HBO will showcase on an interactive tribute page at HBO.com.

MOPH is proud to be working with HBO on The Pacific video tribute campaign and invites you to record a personal message of thanks right your computer by downloading the HBO Pacific Video Tribute WidgetHere is a link to the list of the museums that have the kiosk at their location to record tributes:.  In addition, you can visit the HBO Website that has the best Tributes featured.

The Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) is unique among Veteran Service Organizations in that all its members were wounded in combat. For this sacrifice, they were awarded the Purple Heart Medal. With grants from the MOPH Service Foundation, the MOPH and its Ladies Auxiliary promote Patriotism, Fraternalism, and the Preservation of America's Military History. Most importantly, they provide comfort and assistance to all Veterans and their families, especially those requiring claims assistance with the VA, those who are homeless, and those requiring employment assistance.  MOPH volunteers provide assistance to Hospitalized veterans at VA sites and State Veterans Homes
